Sensors
have been widely used in our daily life, especially used in the cars.
So do you know how many sensors does a car have? Or can you name just a
few sensors here.
There may be 12-30 sensors for engine operation, brakes, safety, and Emission Controls. To name those I can recall:
1.Parking cameras are equipped with proximity sensors which measure the distance between a car and another object and warn the driver if the object is too close.
2.In premium cars such as the Mercedes S class, there are sensors all around which are used for safety systems such as lane change assist as well as for controlling to a certain extent the speed at which the car is moving.
3.In cars such as the Rolls Royce Wraith, Dawn and Ghost Series II, a satellite guided transmission is used which determines the straights, turns and speed bumpers and along with the sensors on the body of the car adjusts the ride height and the speed of the car to provide the best experience.
There can be as many as 20 sensors in such cars all around the body.

- Crankshaft Angle Sensor
- Camshaft Angle Sensor
- Mass Airflow Sensor
- Exhaust Oxygen Sensor (there may be 6 of these)
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Position Sensor
- Spark Knock Sensor
- Fuel Vapor Pressure Sensor
- Fuel Temperature Sensor
- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
- Engine Temperature Sensor
- Engine Compartment Temperature Sensor
- Manifold Air Temperature Sensor
- Vehicle Speed Sensor
- Drive Shaft Rotation Sensor
- Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor
- Anti-Lock Brake Sensor (there is many times one on each wheel)
- Seat Pressure Sensor
- Seat Belt Sensor
- Windshield Cracked Sensor
- Door Ajar Sensors
- Air conditioning pressure Sensor
- Heater & AC temperature Sensor
- Outside Air Temperature Sensor
- Steering Angle Sensor
- Steering Wheel Sensor
- Crash Sensors (3 or more)
- Each vehicle's model year and individual design determines which sensors are used. Many will trigger a warning light. Some may not trigger a warning light.
